The foundation: A farm for regenerating soil and producing healthy food
We consider a healthy agricultural practice to be one that leaves the soil intact and works with a growing interconnected and collaborating web of different roots, fungi and bacteria. We believe a soil with a rich plantation with different layers is vital on many different levels: for healthy food and fresh oxygen, for creating a biotop for many living organisms, for capturing carbon from the air (carbon sequestration) and for the key role that forests growing on that land play in a healthy water cycle.
Permaculture
To achieve this the vegetable garden of Landgoed Overvloed will be based around the principles of permaculture. Permaculture is a science that’s driven around the belief that it is possible to solve the world food problem and heal the ecology at the same time.
With Landgoed Overvloed we want to create a rich, lively and diverse landscape, where an abundance of interconnected microorganisms does the work in the soil to keep her healthy, so that no (chemical) fertilizers are needed to prevent diseases. To achieve this, we will work in addition to the permaculture garden, with a food forest and a grazing system called silvopasture, which is unique in the Netherlands. These three fields will be treated differently, but are all connected to each other.

Food forest
A food forest is a fusion between nature and agriculture. The food forest of Landgoed Overvloed is intended to restore biodiversity and at the same time produce food for people who desire healthier, more surprising and more diverse food. In addition, we welcome nature lovers who want to spend time in it with a (trial) walk or an overnight stay in an off-grid cottage. In this Food Forest of Abundance you will find everything that grows in a natural forest. There is a focus on edible species, which are represented in all layers of nature: from trees, shrubs, herbs, root vegetables to ground covers, creepers and fungi, plus all the animals and insects that these plants attract. We also install hedges, wooden walls and puddles. All this gives the forest the rich, layered structure of a natural forest. With the nice side effect of the tasty products!
Silvopasture
Silvopasture is a US grazing system in which the animals move in naturally occurring numbers over the land, feeding on healthy trees, shrubs and herbs and fertilizing the land naturally with their healthy droppings. This system is not yet applied in the Netherlands. Landgoed Overvloed will be unique in this. A silvopastore system is a mutually beneficial ecosystem: beneficial to the animals that can live in freedom and health, and beneficial to the land that benefits enormously from this natural fertilizer. The movements of the animals are regulated by a rotation system, in which they graze a different piece of land for a defined period, just like in nature. Due to the rotation, the animals do not need external food, but get a large variation in their diet, including medicinal plants, while grazing. With the animals we will make products such as eggs, meat, wool, milk and cheese.
Activities
Besides food production as the fundament for Landgoed Overvloed we will develop several activities / facilities: a restaurant, a store, a school, a healing spa and events.
Stay
Tiny houses
In twaalf volledig uitgeruste, volledig duurzame tiny houses, ruim verspreid over het land, kunnen mensen de volledige off-grid, zelfvoorzienende, natuurlijke en gezonde levensstijl ervaren, te midden van een overvloed aan natuurlijk agrobos. Off grid betekent dat de woningen niet zijn aangesloten op het riool, het elektriciteitsnet en de water- en gasleidingen, maar gebruik maken van composttoiletten, zonne- en windenergie en (gefilterd) regenwater.
Camping met yurts en tipi’s
Voor andere avontuurlijke geesten of kleinere budgetten zijn er twee yurts en vier tipi’s beschikbaar op een aparte camping, die ook nog eens 15 plekken heeft voor het meenemen van eigen tenten of campers. De camping heeft een eigen gemeenschappelijke ruimte, die ook kan worden gebruikt voor elektriciteit en sanitair.

• Regeneratieve landbouw
De cursussen vinden plaats in een apart schoolgebouw vlak bij het voedselbos, in de keuken en buiten in het bos of bij de dieren.
Genezing / Healing Spa
Om deze natuurlijke healing een extra impuls te geven bieden wij verschillende enkelvoudige of langere termijn healing praktijken in de vorm van bijvoorbeeld yoga en energetische healing, en retreats. Zowel retreats als losse ervaringen worden georganiseerd door onszelf of door derden, die vanuit dezelfde visie op duurzaam leven en het back to nature principe opereren.
Gemeenschap
Zoals we ook de grote variëteit aan lokale micro-organismen in de bodem verwelkomen, doet Landgoed Overvloed haar uiterste best om een brede lokale diversiteit aan mensen te verwelkomen en hen het gevoel te geven dat ze deel uitmaken van het land. Vanaf het begin streven we ernaar om samen te werken met lokale ondernemers en met de bewoners van het gebied. Dit doen we door het organiseren van wekelijkse markten waar ondernemers met dezelfde ethiek als wij hun goederen kunnen verkopen en mensen kunnen samenkomen op een plek die volgens hen van hen is. Bewoners die we vanaf het begin betrekken bij ons plan, vragen we wat hun wensen zijn. Ook geven we hen speciale aanbiedingen.
Holistische benadering
Met Landgoed Overvloed willen we herdefiniëren hoe wij mensen ons verbinden met onze natuurlijke hulpbronnen en onze voeding, met onszelf en met elkaar door middel van een holistische benadering. We willen de zelfgenezende capaciteiten van de natuur opnieuw leven geven. Door de bodem weer gezond te maken met regeneratieve landbouw én door zowel toeristen als de lokale gemeenschap een kans te geven te ervaren wat dit betekent en gemeenschapszin te voelen, hopen we dat we kunnen bijdragen aan een oplossing voor de klimaatcrisis en aan onze immateriële welvaart. Om uiteindelijk een betere wereld achter te laten voor onze kinderen en hun kinderen.
Landgoed Overvloed krijgt een speelse maar tegelijk kalme en rustige sfeer: kunstzinnig en creatief met een natuurlijke, organische uitstraling en tegelijkertijd professioneel. De focus ligt op warme en liefdevolle gastvrijheid, niet streng en belerend, maar gezellig en avontuurlijk. Niet zweverig, maar aards. Over het land lopend, valt de bezoeker van het ene wonder in het andere.
